In the busy streets of Santa Monica, California, passersby witnessed a heartbreaking scene. A young, beautiful white Husky was tied to a pole by the roadside. He wasn’t just a stray; he was completely restrained, unable to move freely, and constantly exposed to the elements. Even worse, he endured daily harassment from some homeless individuals who passed by. Despite the cruelty and neglect, the six-month-old puppy managed to keep a hopeful smile on his face. It was as though he believed, deep down, that someone would rescue him.

A Ray of Hope Appears
That hope turned into reality one morning when a local woman, passing by on her way to work, spotted the helpless pup. She was shocked to see such a magnificent animal in such terrible conditions. She didn’t hesitate. Then she immediately contacted the team at Love Leo Rescue, a reputable animal rescue organization known for stepping in during urgent situations.
The rescue team arrived quickly, and the dog, later named Buckley, was gently untied and taken into their care. Though he had been through so much, Buckley remained calm, affectionate, and remarkably resilient. The team was impressed by his spirit and sweet nature.

Love and Healing at the Rescue Center
At the Love Leo Rescue facility, Buckley began his healing journey. He received proper medical care, nutritious meals, and plenty of affection from staff and volunteers. Slowly but surely, his physical and emotional wounds began to heal. His energy returned, and he was eager to interact with the people around him.
“Buckley is an exceptional dog,” said Sasha Abelson, director of Love Leo Rescue. “He is well balanced and loving, and didn’t let his previous experiences change his lovely personality.”
As Buckley thrived in the shelter, his playful and affectionate demeanor uplifted everyone he met. However, it didn’t take long for the team to find him a temporary home where he could continue to grow and recover.

A Foster Home Filled with Hope
Angela, a compassionate woman who had been following Buckley’s story online, was moved by his situation. Without hesitation, she stepped forward to become his foster mom. From the moment Buckley arrived at her home, he settled in quickly. It was clear he felt safe.
The bond between Angela and Buckley grew stronger every day. Buckley, now enjoying daily hikes, cuddles, and playtime with other dogs, embraced his new life. He was no longer the tied-up pup on the street; he was a joyful, thriving Husky experiencing the comfort and security of a loving home.

A Dog Who Heals Others
Interestingly, Buckley wasn’t just receiving help—he was giving it too. Angela, who had been struggling with PTSD, found comfort and routine in caring for Buckley. He brought purpose and healing into her life.
“Buckley is such a great dog! He is our foster who has helped me in my recovery with PTSD. He needs to be active and needs routine… which turns out is part of what I need too,” Angela shared on Instagram.
The mutual healing between Angela and Buckley is a testament to the deep bond that can form between humans and animals, especially those who have experienced trauma.

A Bright Future Ahead
Though Buckley has made great progress and found love in his foster home, he is still looking for his forever family. He needs a home filled with activity, affection, and perhaps even another dog to keep him company. According to Sasha Abelson, “Buckley would love to go into a home that is active and preferably a home with another playful, balanced dog.”
With his joyful spirit, striking appearance, and incredible heart, Buckley is sure to find his perfect match soon. Moreover, he has come a long way from the lonely pole on the streets of Santa Monica, and his story continues to inspire animal lovers everywhere.
A Story That Inspires Action
Buckley’s rescue reminds us all of the importance of noticing and helping animals in distress. Moreover, one act of compassion can truly change a life—sometimes even two lives. As Buckley awaits his forever home, his journey is already a shining example of hope, resilience, and the power of kindness.
