In Peyton, Colorado, the compassionate team at National Mill Dog Rescue (NMDR) has made it their mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome discarded breeding dogs. Their work also includes raising awareness about the cruel realities of the breeding industry. Among the many challenges they face is saving “breeder stock” and puppies who have been deemed unworthy of care. Many of these animals have never experienced love, safety, or even the comfort of a soft surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the odds stacked against them, NMDR continues its efforts with unwavering dedication. As they say, “We may not be able to save them all, but we\u2019re sure gonna try.” One unique tradition at their shelter symbolizes the start of a new life for each rescued dog\u2014the gift of a soft blanket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These dogs have endured unimaginable conditions. Locked in small, dark cages with no comfort or affection, their lives before rescue were bleak. The blankets serve not only as warmth but also as symbols of love and hope. Gone are the days of cold concrete and loneliness.
