After waiting nearly four years for someone to love her, a sweet dog named Sora experienced both joy and heartbreak within a single day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sora, a beautiful black Labrador-Pitbull mix, was surrendered to Valley Animal Center in Fresno, California, back in July 2021. Her former owner gave her up after realizing they couldn\u2019t meet her emotional and training needs. Since then, Sora has remained at the shelter, quietly waiting for someone to choose her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Glimmer of Hope<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Despite her playful nature and endless energy, Sora struggled to capture the attention of potential adopters. For over 900 days, she watched other dogs come and go, her tail wagging in hope each time someone walked by her kennel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valley Animal Center, the largest no-kill shelter in the area, described her as a fun-loving pup who would thrive in an active home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Sora is a sweet pup that has great energy. She\u2019s perfect for long walks or bike rides\u2014she can easily keep up,” the shelter shared on Facebook.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

One day, the long wait seemed to finally end. A visitor expressed interest in Sora, and she was adopted. Everyone at the shelter rejoiced, believing this was the fresh start she deserved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Heartbreaking Return<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

But Sora\u2019s happiness didn\u2019t last. Less than 24 hours after going home, she was returned. Her new owner said the adjustment was too much, too fast\u2014Sora hadn\u2019t had time to settle in before meeting new people and being thrust into unfamiliar surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSora did not get enough time to decompress in her new home and was introduced to new family members too quickly,\u201d Sim Kaur from Valley Animal Center explained to Newsweek.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Just like that, Sora was back in her kennel, confused and heartbroken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still Hoping for a Home<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Spending nearly four years in a shelter has taken an emotional toll on Sora. While the staff gives her as much love and attention as possible, it can\u2019t compare to a stable home. The prolonged shelter life has left her with signs of anxiety, something the team believes can be healed with the right adopter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
