From Eating Rocks to Running Free: Angelo the Great Dane’s Second Chance

In a world filled with heartbreaking stories of animal abandonment, one Great Dane puppy stood out. Angelo, a young and frail pup, wandered the streets in search of food and shelter. Malnourished and weak, he could no longer stand on his feet. But just when hope seemed lost, an unexpected hero appeared.

Despite the dire condition he was in, Angelo’s story would soon prove that kindness still exists. A compassionate woman who dedicates her life to helping stray dogs found him and refused to look away. However, saving Angelo would not be simple. He required urgent medical attention, and time was running out.

Desperation Leads to Danger

The rescue team soon discovered a shocking truth—Angelo had eaten stones to survive. His stomach, full of rocks, caused him unbearable pain and made it impossible for him to eat or pass waste. This dangerous condition required immediate surgery.

The shelter rushed him to the vet, where his life hung in the balance. The procedure was risky, and even with surgery, survival was uncertain. But they had no other choice. Angelo had to be given a chance.

The Power of Social Media and Generosity

Hanan, a volunteer from Furever Rescue Foster, took Angelo under her wing. She committed herself fully to his recovery. Realizing the high cost of Angelo’s surgery and rehabilitation, she reached out through social media, hoping kind souls would answer the call.

That’s when Justin Finning and his wife, Deborah, entered the picture. The couple had over 30 years of experience rescuing and fostering Great Danes, particularly those with special needs. The moment they saw Angelo’s photo, they felt an instant connection. They knew they had to help.

Crossing Borders to Save a Life

There was one major challenge: Angelo was in a different country. He couldn’t fly until after surgery. Undeterred, Justin and Deborah partnered with Hanan to launch a fundraiser. Their goal was to cover not just the surgery, but also the physical therapy, hydrotherapy, and a specialized diet that Angelo needed to recover.

With the support of generous donors, they raised enough funds for the procedure. The surgery was a success. Slowly, Angelo began to recover. He regained strength and started walking again. Finally, the day came when he could fly to his forever home.

Hanan joyfully announced his departure on social media:
“Finally, Angelo went home and he is so happy and enjoying his life. Justin Finning and Deborah Noakes, thank you both for sponsoring him and accepting him in your small paradise.”

A Brand-New Life Full of Joy

Once in his new home, Angelo’s transformation was incredible. Under Justin and Deborah’s loving care, he attended regular therapy sessions and thrived on his new diet. As weeks turned into months, the once-shy and fragile pup turned into a joyful, energetic Great Dane.

He now runs around his spacious backyard with confidence and takes trips to the beach. Best of all, he shares his new home with three other friendly dogs. With them, he plays, cuddles, and enjoys the happy life he had once only dreamed of.

Today, Angelo is a picture of health and happiness. His tragic beginnings may have broken his body, but they never crushed his spirit. Thanks to the kindness and determination of those who believed in him, this brave pup now lives a life filled with love and laughter.

We wish Angelo many years of tail wags, belly rubs, and beach adventures. He truly earned his second chance.
